I love this vid so much! And I'm totally dying that you're using Gwen's CoE quote, because I brought that up in Vid Review! That this vid had extra resonance for me because of TW S3.

This is very close to being my favorite vid of the con. It was completely fantastic. The use of external footage was brilliant and the syncing that you did with the soldiers/children was perfect to make it all match. So, yeah, you can consider me very flaily over this entire vid.

Haha! I loved that you brought it up because when I saw the preview for CoE with that Gwen quote I was like, "Holy shit! Gwen saw my vid!!!" I'm just so glad you enjoyed. THANK YOU!

It's the post-Vividcon vid takeover of the interwebs. :)

One of my favorite vids of the con (and I'm not even all that much of a 'Who' universe fan). Faboo! \o/

Absolutely beautiful, complex, thinky vid. It makes me want to watch it over and over again, in order to try and get all the little nuances. :)

I adore how not human the Doctor is here, how not human his life is, and how off, how not himself he is as John Smith. And Martha, knowing the truth and trying to get him back to what he really is.

I love how you've included Gwen's quote in the summary, because this really does give a kind of answer to her.

Must go watch again and think about this some more. *g*

Thank you so much! I love the complexity of the show and I just want to roll around in the depth of these episodes. Hence, a thinky vid! :D

Glad you dig the Gwen quote. Man when I first saw that preview of her saying it I had already finished and submitted Marble House and I was like, "Gwen?! How did you see my vid?!" Lol!

Hi there,

I didn't get a chance at VVC to tell you how much I loved this vid, and how impressed I was with it. This is one of my favorite vids from this year's VVC, and I said as much in my LJ. Really great stuff. Thank you.

jarrow: dw_marthajarrow on August 24th, 2009 05:05 am (UTC)
This was the most impressive vid of the con for me. Your style is so seamless and fluid, and I thought the message was one that needed to be said. I love how this sits against vids that are happy fluff and vids that show the dangerous side of the Doctor - what about when he's not around? What happens then? Guh, it's just so brilliantly done. Thank you for making it and sharing it with us. It's a treat to watch. (And now I have a new band to explore, yay!)

Thanks so much, man! It was a pleasure to meet you and share In-Depth with you. :)

This vid was one of those that just came together, and mainly due to the Vividcon deadline. Otherwise I'd probably be too scared of it to actually make it, lol. So I'm thrilled you enjoyed. :D And Martha in your icon is gonna kick my ass and I love her for it.

Oh and yay to The Knife! (Though some of their stuff is a bit bizarre. Just warning you. ;) And I also suggest you check out Fever Ray which is The Knife lady's solo project. I think. Anyway it's awesome and VERY moody.)

I know I burbled to you about this at the con, but I love this vid so much I still can't speak very coherently about it. I did try, though. (:

I'm so sorry we didn't talk more at the con -- if I'd known you were there I'd have spent DAYS fangirling you. You make amazing, amazing vids.

Oh man, you spoil me with all your Kind Wordz! :P I think I can't even speak about Marble House properly (so say my feeble attempts at recording a commentary) so what you have managed is very good. Thank you! :D

Though our meeting at the con was brief, it was a pleasure. :)

Wow, what a fascinating, unusual DW vid!

The beginning really sets up the power and uniqueness of Time Lords and I thought at first it was going to be a vid aggrandising them (yes, I should have read the notes!)

That shift from the soldiers marching to the school boys marching was soooo creepy!

Then I got really sucked in to the Martha/Doctor (as I am wont to do!)

The creepy Doctor/Master 'no perfection' sequence was really compelling.

I loved these episodes first time around and I found your retelling very powerful. Loved the sequences when the little boy opens the pocketwatch.

Interesting reflection on Martha's journey and what this arc meant for her, as well as on where she ends up.

And wow, that shot of the Doctor twirling triumphantly in the Tardis at the end is creeeeeeeeeepy!

Thank you so much! I agree that this is a very unnatural DW vid, but I'm glad it managed to work and get people talking. So thanks again! Glad you liked. :D

... and the Doctor Dances.

I can barely begin to say how much I love this vid. 'The Doctor Isn't Human' is my main reason for watching the show, and the thing I keep exploring in my fic, and your vid gave me too many thinky thoughts to count. But, once I have some time, I shall write meta on this! Oh yes.

For now, I shall just flail and admire, because this is so very, very gorgeous and clever. Also, the vid reminded me of this drabble, which is the best (Doctor) drabble ever written.
cortexiphan juice box: [dw] the boney king of nowherehollywoodgrrl on September 8th, 2009 09:06 pm (UTC)
I can't thank you enough for linking me to that beautiful, BEAUTIFUL drabble. You're absolutely right, it's the best ever written. Perfection in its simplicity and I agree with it 100%.

Maybe reading that combined with your wonderful comment has overwhelmed me slightly. But even in that first sentence -- "...and the Doctor Dances" -- I know in my heart that we're on the same page. This vid has turned out to be something that I've been needing to say for quite some time. I'm glad that you understood, and hey, if ever you were to write meta, I'd love to read it. The Doctor's non-human behavior is a favorite topic of mine.

Again I say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

Amazing
Just Wow
I have finally got round to letting you know just how amazing this video is. Each time I see this I get goosebumps!
It has it all, I wanna cry, I have a giggle (love the family, they're so creepy)then get a huge lump in my throat. Plus the song gets stuck in my head, which is weird cause I've never heard it before

Unfortunately I cant watch it when I'm trying to edit myself, cause I get all jealous and then end up not opening up premiere for another month. lol

But yeah just amazing. The real documentary footage at the front really packs a punch and you start to mourn for the doctor. He does so much to help us, and we still manage to mess things up. We can be true monsters sometime...
Thanks for another great watch

Re: Amazing
Aw shucks! You make me all squirmy with your words that are kinda and such. Thank you! :D You have fantastic instinct as a vidder and there's no need to be discouraged by anything I do. As you can see, vidding is all a circle of inspiration anyway. So you open up Premiere right now, Missy! :P
