i really like the juxtaposition of the earlier and later events--like when leoben wipes the blood on the table and when kara wipes her bloody hands on the carpet. brings out interesting parallels.

another intersting contrast is comparing this to a lee vid [by laura shapiro, i think] that uses the same song, but is entirely different in what it's trying to say.

Teehee! I'm sooo glad you like that blood parallel. I was really psyched about doing it. I think that's my favorite thing about vidding, the themes you can pick up by sticking random shots together.

Noooo! Do you have any other player you can use? It kinda sounds like a codec issue. Try downloading the K Lite Codec pack, or Windows Media Player Classic which plays everything (and comes with the k lite codec pack). Hope this works!

I commend you on your choice of song. This is one of my favorites by Tom McRae. I love how the relative lightness of the melody and his voice contrasts with the darkness of the song's theme. As such, it makes a perfect background for the various stages of Leoben and Kara's relationship. Great choice of video clips and nice editing. This is one I'll definitely watch and rewatch.

You've totally won me over to the Kara/Leoban pairing. I love CKR but this video just - just multiplied my love tenfold.

I've also totally spoiled myself - I'm only halfway through S2! But hey, this only made me want to watch more eps asap! Great video, wonderful, fitting song.

Actually just thought about how Walking 2 Hawaii would make the perfect song for a Kara/Lee vid, but this totally works as well. It's really very creepy and all that, but wonderfully done. (also, anything to promote Tom is fair game, hee;)

I only recently discovered Tom (I watched a bunch of awesome vids to his songs, so I was like, why not?) but I love his sound. I'm gonna stick For the Restless on a Lee mix I'm working on. And you're right, Walking 2 Hawaii would be good as well. :)

Your vid does a better job of making me re-evaluate the events of Flesh and Bone than the actual season three episodes -- that moment where Kara puts her hand over his on the glass... No wonder he was all crazy-in-love...

i got here via petitevanou's rec, and i liked the strange way the music (which sounds like happy playground at first) is matched to images of a probably crazy cylon looking worshipful and ecstatic(?) while being beaten up..

i don't know why but Leoben is such a w00bie psycho (or a teddybear stalker) - you can't help but want to give him (and Starbuck) a hug.. "dysfunction" has never before been so beautiful.. when i first started watching BSG, i thought Leoben was creepy because he's a cylon -- that his creepiness was due to his non-human status. but i've realized that's not true. the other cylons are not creepy -- they may be pretty, annoying, disgusting, sleazy, bland, indimidating, or just vulnerable. Leoben is creepy because he's Leoben. and yet he's not just creepy, he's all of those other qualities too. it's just that the other cylons don't manage to be creepy like he is. i guess that's a measure of CKR's talent, because he is the antithesis of creepy when he was playing RayK..

anyways, thank you for sharing this brilliant vid.. it's eye-opening and mind-blowing, in the best ways :D

Heh! Leoban is one scary dude. I totally agree with you that he has these delicious layers, and he also worships the Hybrid sorta (or at least believes her words are prophecy. I'm just so fascinated by his obsession with Kara. It's so intense!

So, this is a bit random for me, since I totally downloaded this vid on a whim when your galactica_vids post floated past on my f-list.

This vid is so fantastic. I love the erie quality of the song, which mixes amazingly well with Kara/Leoben altogether. You paralleled some wonderful things from Flesh and Bone to Season 3 footage.

I am in love with this. Actually, is there any chance you could upload this song alone for me? It's really gorgeous, and I've never heard anything by this artist before.

Now as for the song...It's Tom McRae. He's REALLY popular in the vidding world. That's actually how I first got into him. Instead of just uploading a song for you, I figured why not give you a very Galactica-ish album? It's my favorite of Tom's. And seriously, a total BSG soundtrack. Enjoy! :D

WOW. I'm blown out the airlock by this one. First of all the music...it suits this frakked-up relationship so well. I'm going to look for more of the artist's music.

Second, and no less important, your use of the images is brilliant. Leoben, the Cylon, seems on the surface to be the bad guy, the oppressor, but you turn that around so cleverly with so many more shots of Kara torturing him and killing him than of him doing anything much to her (other than frakking with her mind). He wants to convert her, he wants to get her to love him; he's fanatical and obsessed...not your grandmother's android, that's for sure. In this vid you've captured the essence of what makes Leoben so fascinating. And yes, it's all CKR, his enormous talent, which just pours out of him in this role--no villain he plays is simply a villain; CKR always manages to find his characters' essential humanity and show it to you so that you can't just dismiss them as "bad." He makes me feel for Leoben. And you made us notice how much Kara feels for Leoben, too. She senses their kinship despite the fact that she really, really doesn't want to. She wants to believe he's just a machine--and deep down, she doesn't. You don't hold a machine's hand for comfort....

It struck me, no pun intended, in the one scene where Leoben actually hit Kara, how much he must have restrained himself even then, because she wasn't really hurt, and his Cylon strength is so much greater than a human's that he could easily have killed her with a blow. So he didn't strike the killing blow. By contrast she's killed him, um, how many times? And he's never really sure, every time he dies, that he's really going to wake up on a resurrection ship. Maybe this time he'll be so far away that God won't gather in his soul.... As BSG progresses I have more and more sympathy for the Cylons and their plight. They're Pinocchios, they're Velveteen Rabbits, they want to be Real, and they aren't sure they ever can be. I don't blame them for wanting to "fix" humanity, which is what they believe caused their dilemma.

Back to Leoben/Kara...the vid also makes clear how deeply he's messing with her mind, and how that can be worse than physical blows. I look forward to seeing what else BSG comes up with for this strange and compelling relationship--the most interesting one in all of BSG, in my opinion.

My intention when making this vid was to show what happened, how it happened, and why it happened that Leoban is so much in love with Kara. This "relationship" exists because they're so much like one another. At least in Leoban's mind they are. And maybe in Kara's as well, except she won't admit is since he's a cylon. So I had to bring out all the parallels of him torturing her, her torturing him. It's a neverending frakked up cycle they got going. It won't ever end until she's dead or he's boxed!

As for the music...it seems that everyone is falling madly in love with Tom McRae! :) I actually uploaded the album whith this song on it for someone else in a comment above, so I'll give you the link as well. Enjoy and thanks so much for your comments! :D
